Karen Golden can keep the attention of two-year old’s to teenagers with her lively storytelling and music that she plays on saxophone, hulusi, accordion, recorder, nose flute, ocarina, and a variety of folk instruments. From California to Korea, China to Peru, and Argentina to Hong Kong, audiences around the globe delight in her unique retellings of world folktales, stories from her Jewish heritage, personal tales and original songs, and her published works and award-winning recordings. Students experience the richness of language, strengthening their listening, visualization, vocabulary acquisition, and comprehension skills. Her performance style encourages participation and her personalized follow-up guides to teachers, support continued engagement in the classroom through additional resources, topics for discussion, and curriculum connections.

 Creative Story Vacations: Travel around the world without leaving your seat with a geography lesson in every performance. Students will ignite their imaginations through folk and true tales, music, and age-appropriate audience participation. This program is for all ages and focuses on themes of kindness, being a good neighbor, honesty, making wise choices, and empathy. Holiday and theme programs are available.

For teens, topics include relationships, self-acceptance, and standing up for what you believe. (grades K-12)

Nature Tales:  Discover the natural world through folktales, true and original stories. Explore the seasons, with bears, bats, and butterflies, sing about germination in Karen’s original story “The Little Redwood Seed”, learn why birds don’t share their nests, dance the amphibian hokey pokey and come out of your shell with turtle tales from around the world and more. For virtual performances, Karen will share a tour of her garden and turtle pond. This program can be tailored to align with the science curriculum for your classroom. (grades K-5)

Nature Tails - Butterfly Stories From Near And Far: Fly on the wings of the blue morpho butterfly on the Amazon, discover the butterfly life cycle, and migrate with the monarchs. Includes excerpts from the Getty Center commissioned work on the life of naturalist/artist Maria Sibylla Marian. (grades K-3)

Stories of Jewish Wisdom: Experience the customs, foods, and traditions of the Jewish People from Eastern Europe to the Santa Monica Pier and learn a little Yiddish and Hebrew along the way. (grades K-12)
