The House Jacks

The House Jacks is "the original rock band without instruments" (SF Chronicle). Millions of people listened to The House Jacks worldwide as the sound of The Sing-Off, NBC’s hit live a cappella competition. Their riveting performances, groundbreaking recordings and award-winning songwriting have energized and inspired live audiences in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Brazil, Sri Lanka, France, Canada, Puerto Rico, Italy, the Netherlands, Singapore and Japan. They’ve performed everywhere from Carnegie Hall to the World Expo and have appeared in Rolling Stone, on CNN and Monday Night Football (ESPN).

The Oakland Tribune calls them “A battery of sounds that make mincemeat of the traditional limits of the human voice…a bonafide rock band …” The New York Times calls their vocal percussion “Astonishingly precise!” and San Francisco Magazine says, “The House Jacks serve up one of the most entertaining live acts around.”

Using nothing but their five voices, The House Jacks’ exciting, educational presentation enthralls audiences with participation-filled singing, clapping, instrumental sounds and song requests. All is shared with a moral underpinning: vocal harmony is impossible without interpersonal harmony— harmony through harmony.

In Harmony through Harmony with the House Jacks, students will love learning about the elements of music—rhythm, harmony, melody—and 20th century music history in a program punctuated with the group’s vocal pyrotechnics.
