Resident Artist Division

In partnership with schools, districts, and community organizations, the Resident Artist Division designs and delivers customized arts programs led by professional teaching artists, ensuring equitable access to arts education for all students.

About RAD

The Resident Artist Division (RAD) brings professional teaching artists into classrooms to deliver high-quality, sequential arts education in visual and performing arts disciplines. Students and teachers engage in hands-on workshops in dance, music, theater, and visual arts that are designed to be participatory, skill-building, and responsive to each learning environment.

Through these experiences, students develop creative confidence, collaboration skills, and a deeper understanding of the artistic process and diverse cultural traditions. Workshops are structured to support both artistic growth and meaningful student engagement.

RAD programs are designed with the California Arts Standards in mind and can be integrated with core academic subjects, supporting broader learning goals while expanding access to arts education.

Our Collaborative Programming

  • In-School Programming

This unique program seamlessly blends professional artists' expertise with students' inquisitive minds, fostering a dynamic environment where creativity and education converge. Through hands-on, interactive sessions, students gain invaluable insights into the artistic process, cultivating a deeper appreciation for self-expression and creative problem-solving.

  • After School Programming

By learning directly from practicing artists, students not only refine their technical skills but also develop a heightened sense of imagination and self-confidence. These workshops go beyond the traditional classroom setting, nurturing a space where innovation flourishes, and students can explore their artistic abilities in a supportive and inspiring atmosphere.

  • Professional Development

Through our Resident Artist Division, Children’s Creative Project also offers professional development opportunities designed specifically for classroom teachers who hope to expand their arts education practices and strategies for engaging students. Workshops are conducted by resident and touring artists and are designed for the needs of an individual school or school district.

How RAD Works

1. Contact Children’s Creative Project office for more information on how we design arts education programs that can specifically meet your goals for your students.

2. CCP takes the information provided and creates a program plan for your review, taking into account any budgetary needs.

3. Once a school or district approves the arts education plan, CCP facilitates scheduling with the teaching artist(s).
