Resident Artist Division
Resident Artist Workshops offer students and teachers the unique opportunity to work with local artists in the visual and performing arts. During school hours, artists conduct sequential, participatory workshops for classrooms in dance, theater, music, and visual and media arts.
About RAD
Children’s Creative Project works with individual schools and school districts to design and implement programs that meet their needs and budgets. The Resident Artist Division (RAD) program offers students and teachers the unique opportunity to work with local artists in the visual and performing arts.
Teaching artists conduct sequential, participatory dance, music, theater, and visual arts workshops that provide opportunities for creative expression, skill development, and joyful discovery. Students increase their understanding of artists, the creative process, artistic perception, creative expression, aesthetic valuing, and historical and cultural arts heritage. The workshops emphasize concentration, group cooperation, self-confidence, and positive self-esteem.
Workshops present, address, and fulfill the Arts Standards for California Public Schools and can integrate the arts with academic subject areas.
Our Collaborative Programming
-
In-School Programming
This unique program seamlessly blends professional artists' expertise with students' inquisitive minds, fostering a dynamic environment where creativity and education converge. Through hands-on, interactive sessions, students gain invaluable insights into the artistic process, cultivating a deeper appreciation for self-expression and creative problem-solving.
-
After School Programming
By learning directly from practicing artists, students not only refine their technical skills but also develop a heightened sense of imagination and self-confidence. These workshops go beyond the traditional classroom setting, nurturing a space where innovation flourishes, and students can explore their artistic abilities in a supportive and inspiring atmosphere.

Professional Development for Teachers
Through our Resident Artist Division, Children’s Creative Project also offers professional development opportunities designed specifically for classroom teachers who hope to expand their arts education practices and strategies for engaging students. Workshops are conducted by resident and touring artists and are designed for the needs of an individual school or school district.
How RAD Works
1. Contact the Children’s Creative Project office for more information on how we design arts education programs that can specifically meet your goals for your students.
2. Children’s Creative Project takes the information provided and creates a program plan for your review, taking into account any budgetary needs.
3. Once a school or district approves the arts education plan, CCP facilitates scheduling with the teaching artist(s).
