Fall 2026 Outreach Tour

We are thrilled to announce the new production for PCPA's 2026 Fall Tour— The Throwaways by José Cruz González.

Meet Mako and Bibi, two siblings living with their hard-working mom in an underprivileged neighborhood. While their mom works to keep the family housed, Mako and Bibi grapple with the challenges of food insecurity and the complexity of having an incarcerated parent. When hunger and the pressures of being an older brother drive Mako into a risky mistake, he’s torn between the temptation of criminal convenience and the steady kindness of neighbors who believe in him and his family. This music-filled puppet play explores relatable themes through whimsical daydreams, moonlit messages, and highlights the importance of looking out for our community.  Created from found and repurposed materials, the puppets themselves embody the play’s core message: nothing and no one is truly “trash”—everything has value and can be transformed.

The PCPA - Pacific Conservatory Theatre’s Outreach Tour brings the experience of professional live theatre right to your school. Students get a front-row seat for plays written just for them and performed by PCPA’s Actor’s Ensemble. Included with the performance is a link to a digital study guide for teachers and students to download. The study guide has “show-specific” educational material that connects with grade-specific arts, literature, history, and reading curricula. Teachers of all grade levels can use the performance and post-performance lesson plans, activities, and class discussions about the play.
