David Prather
Actor and writer David Prather combines a Princeton education and decades of creating and performing shows for young audiences in a singular fashion: whether hosting shows at Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Hollywood Bowl, or myriad stages at schools, museums, and libraries he brings an energy and passion that engages audiences of all ages.
His newest show, Yankee Doodle Poetry, is a theatrical presentation of patriotic poems celebrating America. Hop in the saddle with Paul Revere in Longfellow’s famous poem of that midnight ride, encounter Uncle Sam and Lady Liberty, and find out if that Star-Spangled Banner yet waves in this humorous and engaging parade of poetry and patriotism! (Grades 3-6)
Poetry Jam is a high-energy performance designed to stimulate an interest in poetry and language. The show draws from Shel Silverstein and Jack Prelutsky to A.A. Milne and Mother Goose. Upper grades are introduced to classics such as "The Jabberwocky” and "Casey at the Bat." Extensive audience participation, humor, pratfalls, and props turn this performance into an action-packed JAM!
