Capoeira Sul da Bahia

Capoeira Sul da Bahia is a dynamic cultural arts organization dedicated to preserving and sharing the Afro-Brazilian tradition of Capoeira. Led by Mestre Chin (Daniel Yoshimi), a highly experienced instructor with over 30 years of teaching, the group blends martial arts, music, dance, and storytelling into an engaging and educational performance experience.

The Capoeira assembly introduces audiences to the rich history and cultural roots of Capoeira, developed by enslaved Africans in Brazil as a form of resistance and expression. Through live demonstrations of movement, music, and traditional instruments, students and professional artists come together to create an interactive and high-energy presentation. Audience participation is a key part of the experience—students are invited to join in, learn basic movements, and engage directly with the art form.

Capoeira Sul da Bahia emphasizes community, discipline, and empowerment, inspiring youth through cultural connection, physical activity, and artistic expression.
